What is Persuasive Writing?

Persuasive writing is a form of nonfiction where you write to persuade the reader to agree with what you are writing about. You need to thoughtfully develop your argument, which is a series of sentences which explain your opinions, to influence your readers to agree with you.

You must have.....

  • An introduction

  • 3 good reasons for your opinion

  • A conclusion

You will need to write a persuasive writing piece on 'Which make better pets, dogs or cats?'.

List of tasks-

  • Watch the video below.

  • Look at my example below the video.
  • Add your comment to the wiki page 'who make the best pets, cats or dogs?'.
  • Read the other comments to gain ideas of what to write about.
  • Write your first draft (attempt) for this argument.

Here is a short video on a topic. It looks at some reasons for having a school uniform as well as not having a school uniform.

My example of a persuasive piece.

Students should wear school uniforms.

I think that students should wear school uniforms at school because,

1) It makes it easier to get ready for school in the morning.

2) Everybody looks neat ant tidy wearing the same clothes.

3) Uniforms make you feel like you are part of a team.

These are my reasons for why students should wear school uniforms at school.
